Launch Games without Need of original CD/DVD in Drive
How No-CD Patches Work When games are launched they usually look to make sure the CD is in the drive. Usually files aren't being accessed to play the game, but instead to make sure you have a copy of it. No-CD patches take care of this problem.
Gamers will edit the exe file of the game, and take out the command lines to verify the CD is in the CD-drive.
When you download a no-cd patch, you'll probably download a zip file with an exe file and text instructions.
Places to find no-CD Patches. No-CD patches can be found on general gaming sites with downloads and fan sites for specific games. The easiest way to find a no-CD patch is to check a gaming site with a collection on no-CD patches. If a patch can?t be found there, you next bet is to go to a search engine and do a search for a no-cd patch and the title of the game.
Magic Disc: Create cd/dvd image file from cd/dvd drive and mount the image to a virtual cd/dvd drive.
DAEMON Tools: The FREE Virtual CD/DVD-ROM-EMULATOR. Known to be used at net-cafes.
Why does the game application still ask me to insert the CD when the virtual CD is already inserted?
You can resolve this problem by trying one of the following methods:
In your Windows Control Panel, make the virtual drive the first drive to be read instead of the physical CD-ROM drive.
Build this game CD by using intelligent extraction.
Some programs must run from the same drive letter with which it was first installed. For example, if you first installed the program using the 'E' drive, then subsequently your file CD must be inserted into the 'E' drive for the program to run properly.
If you have installed the game application from a physical CD-ROM, please remove it with its uninstall program, and then try to install from a virtual drive.
The number of drives installed on your system is larger than the available drive letters. Add 'lastdrive=z' statement to the C:CONFIG.SYS file and then reboot your system.
