Click Here to view the complete list of updates. Patch v1.61 (45.7 MB) Download from: 2k games Yahoo (Fast))
If u have installed the patch (and maybe also the modified Gamefile) and still have a problem with terrain: where all u see is white lines of water lapping the shore, the rivers & forest no mountains no grassy plains or anything detailed. Only a little when zooming out so that u can't see your units. And u do have a 64mb video card: Try to update your graphic driver:
If load of Civ4 stops at init XML: It is most likely caused by your sound card drivers. Go to the Control Panel, select Sounds and Audio devices, select the hardware tab, and click properties. Now, click the driver tab and click update driver.

Promotions Promotions are available for units which receive experience in training (barracks, drydock, pentagon, vassalage, theocracy, red cross) or combat. First promotion is available with 2 XP, next is 5 XP, 10 XP, 17 XP and so on. General promotions are useful against all types of units also after upgrades. And even if specific promotions (Shock, Cover, Formation, Charge, Amphibious) could mean the same as 0 - 2.5 X combat promotions, it?s better to produce specific units with pre-promotions. Generel Promotions: Melee: Combat I, Medic I, City Raidar I, Combat II, City Raidar II-III, Combat III-V. Archery: City Garrison I-III, Drill I-II, Combat I, Medic I, Combat II-V. Mounted: Combat I, Medic I, Pinch, Combat II-III, Blitz, Combat V, Commando. Siege: Combat I, Medic I, City Raidar I, Combat II, City Raidar II-III, Combat III-V. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Gunpowder: (City Garrison I-III), Combat I, Medic I, Combat II-V. Helicopter: City Garrison I-III, Drill I-II, Combat I, Medic I, Combat II-V. Armored: (City Raidar I-III,) Barrage I-III, Drill I-II, Combat I-III, Blitz, Combat IV-V, Commando. Naval: (Barrage I-II, Drill I-II) Combat I, Medic I, Combat II-V. Millitary Facilities West Point: To build West Point Millitary training facility later, u need a unit with lots of medals (lvl 5). So when u get to war early keep going, until u got one of such unit and keep it intact until West Point is built. Build West Point (with Barracks and Drydock) in a coastal city in order to let naval units get the experience bonus too. Capital is best used to build World Wonders fast, so better build West Point in another one.
Aircraft Facility: Aircrafts (except Gunships) doesn?t receive promotions, so use a second city with reasonable productive capabilities to produce aircrafts.
Iron Works & Heroic Epic: Always build Iron Works in your Capital for the extra +50% Commerce & +50% Shield (speeds construction of World Wonders, especially with Bureacracy civic). Heroic Epic is great together with West Point, don?t build any other national wonders in that city u plan for millitary productions, unless West Point is built in the Capital, where Iron Works should be: then build Heroic Epic where u plan to build Aircrafts.
Tactics
Nuclear Strategy: With a major vote in the UN u can ban the use of nukes. Else the SDI wonder intercepts 75% of all attacks. Place SAM infantry strategic places. And research ecology to gain health against fallout.
Airports & Continents: Build a couple of Airports to airlift and transport units 1/turn over sea and land to new cities anywhere.
Amphibious sneak attacks: Use amphibious promotion to thin the enemy army - by attacking coastal cities - from safe where before major confrontations.
Diplomacy
If some one declare war on u, it doesn't degrade your connections to other civs like when u declare war simply to capture new cities. Better wait for an opponent to arise or for some civ - u want to co-operate with - asking for help. Then keep the war going to gain promotions and to add a few attractive cities to your civ.
Leaders & Team work Some countries are better teams than others: As two leaders with the same traits like no anarchy or free melee promotion is of lesser us!

If u want to learn more of Civ4 and have already finished the tutorial quest: Choose to play in a team to follow an AI team mate's doings.
Custom Setup: Noble difficult level is normal.
MAP TYPES: [Terra] - Earth like map. All civs start on a single continent, while another abroad is only populated by barbarians. [Continents] - featuring two or more large land masses [Great Plains] - features large amounts of grassland and rivers. You Cannot change Climate or sea level. [Highland] - features many mountains. Cannot change climate or sea level.
High Sealevel involves ocean and naval units. Larger mapsize than standard is more difficult to overview and use much cpu time farther in the game.
Good 2 Teams: Arabs & America; Aztech & America; Aztech & China; Aztech & England; China & Mongolia; Egypt & England; Greece & India; Inca & Germany; Japan & Germany; Japan & Russia; Mali & Greece; Mali & Persia; Mongolia & India; Persia & India; Persia & Rome; Rome & France; Spain & Russia; Spain & France.
Temperate climate is normal. Ancient time is normal. Marathon speed is still a fast evolution.
VICTORY CONDITIONS: Disable Time Victory only.
Note that AI players in a team usually won't trade.

If u start a game in modern times, AI doesn't seem to benefit from the fact, that there is nothing left to research. So while u are building culture - expanding cities, the other civs are still researching sh*t...
Tip: If u plant a city on a resource, a spy (modern times) can't interrupt its extraction, because workers don't need to build anything to extract a resource in a city square.
Score: I just won the Second World War MOD, difficulty: Deity and Score: 2. Manage to capture 1 objective.
